The Cheapest Memory Card Can Cost You the Best Shot

Both are 256GB microSDXC cards marked V30 and A2. The useful difference is how quickly you can offload footage, whether your reader can use the faster rating, and which exact card your device accepts.

30-second verdict

Choose the SanDisk Extreme if you often empty a camera card onto a computer and have a compatible reader for its higher advertised transfer ceiling. Choose the PNY PRO Elite if your device accepts microSDXC UHS-I V30 and you want the same video speed class and capacity at the lower checked price. Both V30 labels address the same minimum sustained video-write class; neither listing proves that a particular camera mode, console or dash cam supports it. SanDisk's 245MB/s headline needs compatible proprietary-speed hardware. Both exact new US offers were in stock, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, Prime eligible, and had Add to cart and Buy Now for Wilmington 19804.

Extreme microSD UHS-I 256GB

New Version · SDSQXH9-256G-GZ6MA · ASIN B0G8M2FH2G
$74.99 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

The selected card is microSDXC UHS-I with U3, V30 and A2 marks. Its rated maxima are 245MB/s read and 170MB/s write, but SanDisk says the higher-than-standard UHS-I read ceiling needs compatible hardware; an ordinary slot or reader may be slower. The matching New Version / 256GB feedback mentions use in a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, while also noting the price increase. The exact new offer was in stock, sold and shipped by Amazon.com with Prime delivery.

PRO Elite microSDXC 256GB

P-SDU256V32100PRO-GE · ASIN B08F7Y4R1B
$49.99 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

PNY's ordinary PRO Elite 256GB card is microSDXC UHS-I, marked U3, V30 and A2, with rated maxima of 100MB/s read and 90MB/s write. The SD adapter gives a full-size slot option, but does not change the card's speed or device compatibility. Matching 256GB feedback describes reader-dependent transfer results, a useful reminder to check the computer-side reader. The exact new offer was in stock, sold and shipped by Amazon.com with Prime delivery. This is not PNY's separate High Endurance model for continuous recording.

What we researched

We compared two exact 256GB microSDXC UHS-I cards from different manufacturers. The SanDisk Amazon offer showed 10K+ bought in the past month and 1,075 reviews; the PNY offer showed 2K+ and 4,842. These are changing signals on the selected listings, not market share or sales rank, and aggregate reviews may mix capacities. Both cards carry U3/V30/A2 marks. The decision hinges on the host's card format, the actual reader used for offloads, and whether SanDisk's higher advertised speed is useful enough in that workflow.

Key findings

The V30 badge is a floor, not the headline speed

Both cards have the same V30 video speed class even though their advertised maximum write figures differ. The V30 mark is the relevant common baseline for supported recording modes; check the device maker's card and bitrate requirements for the actual mode you use.

High

The reader can decide the offload experience

SanDisk's up-to-245MB/s read claim needs compatible hardware and is not a promise from every UHS-I slot. Matching PNY feedback also describes different transfer results with two readers. If you rarely empty the card to a computer, paying for the higher read ceiling may have little effect.

High

Continuous recording is a separate buying question

A positive dash-cam comment would not establish endurance. The PNY product checked here is ordinary PRO Elite, not its separate High Endurance line. For a dash cam that loops video continuously, first follow the camera maker's endurance-card recommendation.

Amazon US · SanDisk selected-capacity owner feedbackFour-star verified US purchase dated 3 September 2026, explicitly New Version / 256GB. Amazon US · PNY selected-capacity owner feedbackFive-star verified US purchase dated 1 April 2021, explicitly 256GB. Method
On 24 September 2026 we screened Amazon US 256GB microSD search results, then opened both exact detail pages. We verified selected capacity, model, ASIN, new stock, Amazon.com seller and shipper, local Prime delivery and purchase controls for Wilmington 19804. We read one high-rated verified, matching-capacity review for each card and checked each manufacturer's product specifications. We did not benchmark the cards or test long-term reliability. Advertised maxima depend on host and workload; purchase labels are listing signals, not market share, and global review totals may combine options. Selection was independent of affiliate availability. As an Amazon Associate, buypick may earn from qualifying purchases.
