The Tower Fan Test Begins When the Lights Go Out

One tower is about 79cm tall with a 22cm base; the other reaches about 107cm with a 32cm base and a display you can switch off. Decide where it will stand and how you will run it after dark.

30-second verdict

Choose the Igenix DF0035T when floor space, a lighter unit and an uncomplicated half-hour-step timer matter most. Its manual explains exactly how Sleep mode gradually drops the speed, but the remote needs two AAA batteries that are not included. Choose the PureMate PM850B when you want a taller air outlet, a visible digital display that can be turned off at night, and an aroma tray; allow for its wider base and later checked delivery date. Neither fan refrigerates room air, and the PureMate's ioniser marketing does not establish a measured air-cleaning result. Both exact new UK listings had working purchase buttons and London delivery on 24 September 2026. Recheck the offer and Prime eligibility for your own address before ordering.

29-inch Oscillating Tower Fan

DF0035T · White · ASIN B06XHJQQFH
£49.99 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

Igenix specifies a 79cm height, 22 × 22cm base and 2.5kg weight, making this the smaller floor object in this pair. Three speeds, oscillation and the remote cover ordinary use. Unlike a vague Sleep label, its manual explains that Sleep mode lowers the selected speed every 30 minutes until Low; the timer works from 0.5 to 7.5 hours in half-hour steps. The manual says the remote requires two AAA batteries, not included, and base assembly needs three screws. Matching White feedback mentions the slim shape, convenient remote and some noise; that owner had not tried it in a bedroom. The selected UK offer was in stock, sold and shipped by Go Shop Direct, with London delivery. Manufacturer specifications differ from some Amazon dimensions; allow space for the stated 22cm base. Igenix lists 12 months standard warranty and an extension to 24 months with registration within 30 days.

A taller outlet where floor space and a later delivery date are acceptablePick 2 · PureMate

43-inch Tower Fan with Aroma Function

PM850B · Tower_fan_black · ASIN B079SWG73M
£99.00 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

PureMate's PM850B specification gives an assembled 106.8cm height, 32 × 32cm base, 4.46kg weight and 1.5m cord. The taller outlet and 70° oscillation suit a more open floor position, while the large display can be switched off with the remote at night. It offers three speeds, three wind modes, an 8-hour timer and an aroma tray. The maker also markets an ioniser as an air-purifying feature, but provides no independent particulate-removal result or CADR on the checked page; do not buy this instead of a proven room air purifier. Matching Tower_fan_black feedback mentions simple controls and quiet operation in that owner's use, and notes cosmetic scratches that service addressed. The checked new offer was sold by PureMate, dispatched by Amazon, with active buttons and London delivery shown for 7 October. Amazon lists the height as 109cm versus the maker's 106.8cm assembled figure, so allow several centimetres rather than planning a tight fit.

What we researched

The exact Igenix listing showed 200+ bought in the past month and 1,959 global ratings; the exact PureMate black listing showed 400+ and 1,996. These are changing transaction signals for the selected listings, not UK market share. Rating totals may pool variants. Both were new offers with active buying controls and delivery to London SW1A 1AA. The practical decision is whether a smaller, lighter tower with a predictable Sleep ramp suits you better than a taller fan with a light-off display and aroma tray. We did not independently measure airflow, noise, power use or air cleaning.

Key findings

The base is the first bedroom measurement

The maker-listed PureMate footprint is 32 × 32cm versus Igenix's 22 × 22cm. These fans have different outlet heights as well. Decide where a stable, clear patch of floor exists before choosing the taller tower.

High

Sleep labels are not identical routines

Igenix documents a gradual speed reduction every 30 minutes. PureMate documents a light-off function and timer. Neither checked source establishes which is quieter in your room, so choose the control routine you will actually use.

High

A fan is not a measured air purifier

PureMate describes an ioniser and aroma tray, but its checked page gives no independent CADR or particle-removal test. Treat it as an air-moving fan with those extras, not as a proven replacement for a dedicated purifier.

Method
On 24 September 2026 we screened several Amazon UK tower-fan search results using Best Sellers sorting for candidate discovery only. We opened both exact local ASIN pages and checked the selected variant, new offer, seller, shipper, London delivery and active purchase controls. One high-rated verified UK comment matching each selected colour was read on its listing. We checked the Igenix exact model page and manual, and PureMate's PM850B model page. The manufacturers' measurements differ slightly from some Amazon fields; the buying guidance uses maker-listed assembled dimensions and flags the discrepancy. We did not test noise, airflow, durability or air-purification performance. Purchase and rating labels are listing-level signals, not market share. Product selection was independent of affiliate availability. As an Amazon Associate, buypick may earn from qualifying purchases.
