30-second verdict

Choose the Conair 318RC if you want a straightforward dryer with two heat and two speed settings, a cool shot and one concentrator, sold and shipped by Amazon.ca. Choose the Wavytalk Blown Away 5917 if you will use its diffuser for waves or curls or its comb attachment for thicker hair. It adds three heat levels and a removable filter, but has more pieces to store. Both checked Canadian offers were new, in stock, shipped by Amazon and had working purchase buttons. Both are intended for North American voltage; neither should be assumed suitable for an overseas outlet. Prices and Prime discounts can change at checkout.

An uncomplicated dryer for a quick routinePick 1 · Conair

318RC Mid-Size Hair Dryer

Blue · 1875W · ASIN B0852913V2

CAD24.97 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

Conair's two heat and two speed settings and cool shot cover basic drying and directed styling without a drawer of attachments. The box includes a concentrator but no diffuser, so curls that depend on diffused airflow may call for a different tool. Review feedback marked blue mentions a compact feel. The exact 318RC manual advises cleaning lint from the air inlet and gives a one-year limited warranty. Amazon.ca sold and shipped the checked new offer.

One dryer for smooth styling and diffuser daysPick 2 · Wavytalk

Blown Away Ionic Hair Dryer

5917 · Pink · 1875W · ASIN B09JZ18GLJ

CAD49.99 new; CAD39.99 Prime deal checked 24 Sep 2026

The concentrator, diffuser and comb make this more flexible if you alternate between smoothing and preserving waves or curls. Three heat settings and a cool shot provide another control step. A removable filter offers a clear cleaning point, but three attachments take storage space. Review feedback marked pink mentions useful variable heat and a semi-compact shape, with a slippery-feeling handle and scuff-prone finish. The selected offer was sold by wavytalk CA and shipped by Amazon; its seller profile showed strong recent service feedback. The maker lists a one-year limited warranty, subject to its terms.

What we researched

This comparison is about the styling work you actually do after a shower. Conair keeps the routine to one concentrator, two heat and two speed settings. Wavytalk adds a diffuser and comb, plus another heat level, for people who will use those options. The selected Conair page showed 1K+ bought in the past month and 9,472 reviews; Wavytalk also showed 1K+ and 32,833 reviews. Those numbers describe activity on the checked listings, not Canadian market share or a quality ranking. Review totals may combine colour variants.

Key findings

Attachments justify the Wavytalk only if you use them

The shared 1875W label does not predict an individual drying time. A diffuser and comb give the Wavytalk more styling routes, while Conair's one concentrator is easier to keep track of in a small bathroom.

High

Do not pack either for an unknown voltage

The exact Conair manual specifies 110–125V AC/60Hz and warns against a voltage converter. The selected Wavytalk listing also limits use to 110–125V regions. Check the destination outlet and unit label before travel.

High

Consider who handles the sale

Amazon.ca sold and shipped the Conair. wavytalk CA sold the selected Wavytalk while Amazon shipped it; its profile showed 99% positive feedback over the prior 12 months. That is useful service context, not proof that every product complaint is resolved.
