A Water Filter Jug Has to Earn Its Fridge Space

Both jugs claim 2.4 litres and fit a fridge door. The real choice is three BRITA cartridges with a four-week reminder, or one AQUAPHOR cartridge with a longer stated volume limit and a simpler body.

30-second verdict

Choose the BRITA Marella Graphite if its three included MAXTRA PRO Pure Performance cartridges, one-handed refill lid and four-week Memo reminder will make a regular filtering routine easier. Choose the AQUAPHOR Compact Grey if you prefer a removable handle, a lower entry spend and one Maxfor+ cartridge with a stated limit of up to 200 litres or 60 days. BRITA's official limit is 150 litres or four weeks, whichever arrives first; AQUAPHOR's stated lifetime can vary with source water. Both exact new UK offers were in stock and showed active buying controls for London SW1A 1AA on 24 September 2026. The BRITA offer was sold and shipped by Emanaged Ltd, whose Amazon profile showed 87% positive feedback over 12 months; AQUAPHOR UK LTD sold the Compact and Amazon dispatched it. Marella Cool Graphite

2.4L · three MAXTRA PRO Pure Performance cartridges · ASIN B0BT1HTR9Q

£21.99 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

The jug holds 2.4L overall and 1.4L of filtered water, according to BRITA. It fits a fridge door at 25.8 × 25.8 × 10.5cm and has a one-hand flip lid and time-based Memo. The selected bundle supplies three Pure Performance cartridges. BRITA says replace each after at most 150L or four weeks, so three cartridges are a starter supply, not permission to extend any one cartridge. A matching Without Bottle review mentions fridge fit and the useful reminder; its taste comment is subjective. The exact new offer was in stock with working buttons and local delivery, but a third-party seller handled shipping. The seller's 87% positive annual feedback warrants checking the current offer carefully at checkout.

Compact Grey Maxfor+

2.4L · one Maxfor+ cartridge · ASIN B09YRKVPMR

£9.99 new offer checked 24 Sep 2026

The exact Grey offer includes one Maxfor+ cartridge. AQUAPHOR's model page confirms a 2.4L body, removable handle, flip-top lid and fridge-door fit; the Amazon listing gives 24.8 × 10.5 × 22cm. The maker lists up to 200L per Maxfor+ cartridge, while the local offer also states 60 days of typical use. Filter life can vary with incoming water and use, so treat both as upper limits and check the included instructions. A verified Grey review likes the compact form and easy cartridge installation and reminds buyers to prepare the cartridge first; taste is subjective. The new offer was in stock, sold by AQUAPHOR UK LTD and dispatched by Amazon for London. There is no built-in replacement reminder shown on the selected product page.

What we researched

We screened live Amazon UK water-filter jug results, then checked two different manufacturers and unused models: BRITA Marella Graphite B0BT1HTR9Q and AQUAPHOR Compact Grey B09YRKVPMR. The exact listings showed 10K+ and 2K+ bought in the past month and 11,812 and 6,491 global ratings. Those changing figures are offer-level transaction signals, not market share or a sales ranking; ratings may pool other options. Both new offers were in stock with active purchase buttons and London delivery shown. The useful differences are filtered-water capacity, included cartridge quantity, replacement schedule, refill and cleaning routine, and seller arrangements.

Key findings

The box contents change the first months

BRITA's checked bundle starts with three genuine cartridges, whereas AQUAPHOR's starts with one. Compare replacement pack prices and the way your household actually uses water before deciding from the jug price.

High

A reminder is useful only if it matches the cartridge

Marella's Memo is time-based and BRITA specifies four weeks or 150L, whichever comes first. Do not mistake it for a water-quality sensor. The Compact has no listed reminder, so the buyer must track use and replacement manually.

High

Both are tap-water taste products, not safety tests

Manufacturer reduction claims depend on exact cartridge and test conditions. Neither the jug, a pleasant taste, nor one enthusiastic review establishes that unsafe source water is potable. Check a current local water report or suitable test for a particular concern.

Pre-purchase checklist

Confirm the exact BRITA Graphite three-filter ASIN B0BT1HTR9Q or AQUAPHOR Compact Grey one-filter ASIN B09YRKVPMR before ordering.
Measure the fridge door and remember that 2.4L overall is not necessarily 2.4L ready-to-pour filtered water.
Plan BRITA changes at 150L or four weeks, and AQUAPHOR at no more than the maker's 200L and the local listing's 60-day typical-use guidance.
Check the exact cartridge's evidence if you need reduction of a particular substance; do not use these jugs as a substitute for treatment of unsafe water.
Prepare and clean the pitcher and cartridge according to the included instructions, keeping excluded lids out of the dishwasher.
Recheck new condition, Prime eligibility, seller, shipper, delivery charge, returns and replacement-filter cost for your postcode.

Method
On 24 September 2026, Amazon UK Best Sellers sorting was used only to discover candidates. We opened the two exact ASIN pages, checked the selected variants, new stock, active purchase controls, seller, shipper and delivery to London SW1A 1AA. We read one verified five-star review matching each selected variant for everyday-use observations. BRITA's UK Marella page and filter FAQ and AQUAPHOR's Compact page supplied product details; the Emanaged profile informed the seller caveat. We did not test water, independent reduction performance, cartridge life or taste. Purchase counts and rating totals are changing listing signals, not a market ranking. Product selection was independent of affiliate availability. As an Amazon Associate, buypick may earn from qualifying purchases.
